Just saw something in the Columbia Journalism Review (March/April edition, numbers below). There's something really wrong here.
"Hard Numbers:
- A 9% increase in visitors to the top newspaper sites in 2006.
-60% of online newspaper readers are men.
-44% of jobs cut from The Boston Globe and the Worcester Telegram & Gazette to be outsourced.
-172 editorial jobs cut from Time Inc. last January.
-18% profit margin at Time Inc."
While I'm at it, in the same CJR edition I saw a story on Wikileaks. Quoting CJR: "They will allow anyone to post documents that purport to shed light on malfeasance, public or private and remain safely anonymous."

It's a crazy news world out there....
